How It Drives
Mid-engine changes everything about how a Corvette drives, and the Stingray is the clearest demonstration of it. The 6.2 liter V8 sits behind your shoulder instead of ahead of your knees, which makes the front of the car feel light and eager and the rear feel planted under power. 490 horsepower and a torque curve that means you almost never need to downshift to make something happen out of a corner or off a light. Run it along the harbour at Newport and out toward Dana Point and the white cabin catches the light the whole way.
How It Photographs
Black outside with a white interior is the combination people notice from inside the car rather than outside it, and it is the reason to shoot this one with the doors open. The cabin reads as bright and graphic against the dark body, a much stronger frame than a dark interior gives you. On the outside, the black paint hides detail in flat light and sharpens up at golden hour along the Newport harbour or under streetlights near Fashion Island, so time the shoot rather than fighting it.
Why This One
The only Stingray we run with a white interior, and against a black body it is the hardest contrast in the group. Our other black Stingray has a dark cabin and rents for a hundred dollars less, so you are paying specifically for the interior on this one.
