The Porsche Panamera is booked for airport-to-hotel trips with four adults and real luggage, wedding party transport, and a renter who wants the Porsche experience but does not want to drive alone. It is also the practical half of a two-car booking, carrying the group and the bags while a 911 in the same order handles the photos. A group that wants space to talk and stretch out rather than a driver's seat to fight over reaches for the Panamera before any 911 in our fleet. It suits a booking built around the whole group's comfort, not one person's afternoon behind the wheel, which is exactly why nobody in the car minds that nobody on the street looks twice.
Trim Breakdown
The Porsche Panamera range runs from a rear-wheel-drive V6 through plug-in hybrids to a V8 Turbo, in standard, Executive long wheelbase and Sport Turismo bodies. Our fleet runs the base Panamera, the entry point to the line.
Panamera
The base Panamera is the trim we run. A 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 makes 325 hp through the rear wheels with an 8 speed PDK. It has 4 real seats with adult rear legroom, a quiet cabin at freeway speed, and a spoiler that rises out of the tailgate above a set speed and folds away again as you slow.
Panamera 4
The Panamera 4 is the same V6 with all-wheel drive and nothing else changed. On dry pavement most renters would not identify which of the 2 they were sitting in. The front axle earns its keep on a wet on-ramp and on a mountain road in the cold. We do not run the Panamera 4.
Panamera 4S
The Panamera 4S takes the 2.9 liter V6 to 443 hp with all-wheel drive, larger brakes and a firmer standard chassis. It is the point in the range where the car stops feeling like a comfortable sedan wearing a Porsche badge and starts feeling quick in its own right. We do not run the 4S.
Panamera E-Hybrid
Porsche builds several plug-in hybrid Panameras, badged 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid, pairing the V6 with an electric motor for combined output between 455 hp and 552 hp plus a short electric only range. They are the heaviest cars in the range and the smoothest in stop-start traffic. We run none of them.
Panamera GTS and Turbo S
At the top of the range sit the V8 cars. The Panamera GTS makes 473 hp from a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with a louder exhaust and the sharpest chassis tune of any Panamera, and the Turbo S goes to 620 hp. A Turbo S E-Hybrid sits above both. We do not run any V8 Panamera.
