This is the newer of our M3 Competition specifications, with all wheel drive and 523 horsepower from the same 3.0 liter twin turbo straight six, more than the two Competition cars we also run. What the extra doors and the fifth seat buy you is a car that works for a weekend with four people in it rather than a car that works for one. The engine pulls cleanly from low revs and keeps building toward the 7,200 rpm redline, with none of the flat spot most turbocharged sixes have. In Comfort, cruising Pacific Coast Highway through Corona del Mar, it is quiet and settled. In Sport Plus, with launch control engaged, sixty arrives in 3.4 seconds and it is an entirely different car.

Against the white body the red cabin reads as a clean, deliberate two tone rather than an accident, which is why this car ends up in a lot of content. White also holds up in almost any light, including the harsh midday sun along Newport Coast Drive where darker cars lose their shape entirely. Why This One
This is the only all wheel drive M3 Competition of the three we run in Orange County and the only one that makes 523 horsepower rather than 503. It leaves the line in 3.4 seconds against 3.8 for the grey and the green cars, which is the whole argument for it. This is the M3 Competition, the newer of the two specifications we run, in white with a red interior. It carries the current LED headlights with arrow shaped daytime running lights, a flat-bottom Alcantara steering wheel and a curved instrument display, along with the carbon roof standard on the Competition trim.
