The Porsche 911 GT3 is a naturally aspirated, 9,000 rpm 911 built for a track day, not a commute.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is the naturally aspirated 911 that revs to 9,000 rpm, built by Porsche's racing department on a double wishbone front axle borrowed from GT racing that no other 911 in our fleet uses. Drivers book it knowing they trade rear seats and a quiet cabin for the sound, chasing an engine rather than a comfortable way to cover distance.
The front end answers within the first turn of the wheel and tugs back at your hand with more feedback than anything else in the range, then the flat six builds to a metallic wail you feel at the base of your skull. That suits a track day or a canyon drive planned for its own sake.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is booked by drivers who already know what they are trading for the sound, since it gives up rear seats and, on the GT3 RS, the front trunk for a two-part wing and a front radiator. It suits a track day, a canyon drive planned for its own sake, and a renter chasing an engine that idles with a hard mechanical rattle before pulling to a 9,000 rpm wail sources have described as felt in the base of your skull. A renter who wants a fast Porsche with room for a passenger's bag and a quieter cabin should book the 911 Turbo S instead. The GT3 is booked by a renter who wants a race car's front end and redline on public roads, not a comfortable way to cover distance.
The Porsche 911 GT3 family is small and sits at the top of the naturally aspirated 911 range. It splits 3 ways, the winged GT3, the wingless GT3 Touring and the track focused GT3 RS.
The 911 GT3 is one of the 2 GT3 grades we run. A 4.0 liter naturally aspirated flat-six makes 502 hp at 8,400 rpm and revs to 9,000, driving the rear wheels through a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed PDK. It stays usable, keeping a front trunk and a shelf behind the seats for 2 soft bags.
The 911 GT3 Touring is the same car without the fixed rear wing. Porsche fits a retracting spoiler and a leather dashboard, deletes the GT3 script, and offers rear seats the winged car does not have, so it reads as an ordinary Carrera until it is started. We do not run a Touring.
The 911 GT3 RS is the other grade we run. Power rises to 518 hp, the gearbox is PDK only with a shorter final drive, and a 2 part rear wing with an adjustable upper blade adds a drag reduction system. A center mounted radiator replaces the front trunk, so there is no luggage space at all, and top speed drops to 184 mph.
