BMW M4 CSL Rental in Los Angeles
The blue BMW M4 CSL with a black interior is a Prometheus Exotics rental based in Los Angeles, our only CSL, a two seat rear drive coupe built in a run of 1,000 and 100 kilograms lighter than a standard M4. It is booked for the drive, a dawn run up Mulholland or a weekend on Angeles Crest, by a renter knowing what CSL means.
How It Drives
Rear drive is the mechanism that defines this car. BMW deleted the front driveshafts along with 100 kilograms of interior, insulation and glass, so all 543 horsepower from the twin turbo inline six goes to the back tyres alone, and you feel that on the way out of a corner rather than in a straight line. Point it up Angeles Crest Highway and the CSL asks more of your right foot than a standard M4 does, with the stability control easing back rather than stepping in early. The fixed carbon seats put you low and centered, so you read the car's weight shifting side to side through your ribs rather than through the wheel. It is the most physical BMW we run, and it wants a real road, not a boulevard.
How It Photographs
Shoot this CSL from a parking structure roof in the Arts District or a Mulholland overlook, and the exposed carbon on the hood, roof and trunk breaks the blue into panels, the only M4 in our fleet showing raw weave instead of paint across three body sections. The blue holds its saturation in the flat light Los Angeles gets most afternoons, and the red accent lines on the hood read against it without needing direct sun. Open a door for the yellow running lights and the illuminated CSL lettering, easier to catch after dark on a quiet street than at midday on the boulevard. The black cabin keeps the carbon buckets and the numbered plaque as the whole interior story.

Against the four M4 Competitions in the fleet, which are all wheel drive with a usable back seat, this is the only M4 that is rear drive, two seats only and 100 kilograms lighter, and the only one wearing the CSL's carbon body panels and illuminated tail lettering. Book a Competition for a weekend that includes passengers or a bad back. Book this one when the drive itself is the reason for the trip and Los Angeles is just where it starts, whether that means a dawn loop of Angeles Crest Highway or a weekend built entirely around one road. It is also the only M4 here where all the horsepower goes to two wheels instead of four, which is the whole difference between a fast car and a demanding one.
What's On This One
This CSL is finished in blue over a black cabin, with the M Carbon full bucket seats that are standard on the CSL rather than optional, carbon covering the hood, roof and trunk lid, and the CSL's own titanium exhaust. It is rear drive only, the sole M4 in our fleet without all wheel drive, and the sole one without a back seat. M Carbon ceramic brakes are standard on this trim. Yellow daytime running lights and laser tail lights with illuminated CSL lettering mark it from outside as one of the 1,000 built. Inside, black leather and Alcantara carry red stitching and CSL badging, and a numbered plaque marks which of the run this specific car is.
