The black Lamborghini Urus Widebody with the black and yellow stitched interior is based in San Diego. It is the Lamborghini that seats 5, carries the bags and still gets the phones out, because the flared arches and the yellow calipers make it read as the loud one in a lot full of SUVs. Book it for the group arrival, the Torrey Pines golf weekend or the shoot that needs 4 doors. It serves San Diego, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
Underneath the widebody this is a Urus, and the first mile says so. The 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 makes 641 hp and in Strada it is quiet, with cylinders shutting down when you lift, so the drive from the airport to the hotel is a fast, comfortable SUV. The air suspension raises for a steep driveway and softens for broken pavement. Pull the left lever on the tamburo through Sport to Corsa and the exhaust opens, the shifts get hard and the throttle sharpens. Rear-wheel steering and active anti-roll bars keep 2.2 tons flat through a corner, and the brakes are 440 mm carbon ceramics. Take it up Palomar Mountain Road, 20 hairpins in 7 miles, and an SUV should not carry this much speed through them. This one does, with 4 people in it.
Black with yellow stitching and yellow calipers is the only colour decision it needed. The widebody does the rest. In direct sun the black mirrors the sky and the arches throw a hard shadow, so shoot the front three-quarter low. In open shade the yellow pinstripe around the diffuser and the yellow tailgate script finally read, which is the rear shot. After dark it is a black shape with Y-shaped lights and yellow behind the wheels. Open a door for the yellow hexagon seats. Shoot the yellow caliper through the black wheel close. These photos were taken on a cliff road above the ocean on the San Diego coast. Torrey Pines Road above the Gliderport gives the same backdrop.
We run 4 Urus Widebodies and this is the only one in San Diego. The others are in Palm Springs, Orange County and the Inland Empire at $1,195 to $1,295 a day. The only other Urus down here is the blue Urus S with the white interior at $1,195, the quieter car. This one is $1,395 a day and the loud one, the widebody with the yellow cabin and the yellow calipers. If the brief is the wildest Urus we have south of Orange County, this is it.
This is the Urus Widebody, an aftermarket widebody kit on a standard Urus. Underneath is the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with 641 hp, the 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension, 440 mm carbon ceramic brakes and the tamburo drive selector with the red start button cover. On this car the paint is black, the arches are flared with a front lip, a yellow pinstripe runs around the rear diffuser, the wheels are black multi-spoke, the calipers are yellow, and the tailgate script is yellow. Inside it is black leather with yellow hexagon quilting on the front and rear seats, yellow stitching on the wheel, yellow shields on the headrests and carbon dash trim. 5 seats, 4 doors.
