Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach Rental in Los Angeles

The black Porsche 911 GT3 RS with the Weissach package, black interior and yellow seatbelts is based in Los Angeles. It's the race version of the road car, a 4.0 flat-six to 9,000 rpm under a wing with its own moving flap, and it's filmed wherever it stops. Book it for the milestone birthday, the shoot, the day you want the car nobody can simply go and buy. It is delivered across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.

THE DRIVE

How It Drives

The wing is the first thing you learn to use. It's a 2-piece carbon wing with a hydraulic upper blade, and a button on the wheel flattens it on a straight, the first drag reduction system on a road Porsche. Brake hard and it tips up as an airbrake. The front fenders have louvres and the nose is a radiator, so there's no frunk, and that's the brag. Underneath it's the 4.0 naturally aspirated flat-six, 518 hp, pulling hardest after 5,000 rpm and screaming at 9,000. PDK only, with a shorter final drive, so it hits the next gear sooner than the GT3. 4 dials on the wheel adjust damping, differential and mode. At low speed it's busy over bad asphalt and easy in traffic. On Mulholland Drive from Coldwater Canyon to the overlooks it comes alive at legal speeds.

THE LOOK

How It Photographs

Black over black, with blue magnesium wheels, yellow calipers, a carbon roof and the Weissach decal on the wing. Black hides the louvres in direct sun, so shoot in open shade where the carbon weave on the roof shows. The blue wheels are the colour in the frame and they read from 50 feet. After dark the wing silhouettes against anything lit behind it, which is the shot. Take the front straight on, low, with the wing above the roofline and mountains behind, like these photos. Shoot the Weissach script on the wing blade close. For a second set, a turnout on Angeles Crest with the San Gabriels behind it on a weekday morning.

THE PICK

Why This One

We run 3 GT3 RS cars and this is the only one with the Weissach package. The grey RS in Orange County is $1,695, the black RS in San Diego is $1,695, and this one is $1,795 and the only RS based in Los Angeles. The extra $100 buys the carbon roof, the magnesium wheels, the Weissach script on the wing and the yellow belts, the details the people filming it zoom in on. Black makes the wing and the louvres read as serious rather than loud.

THE BUILD

What's On This One

The GT3 RS is the track version of the GT3, PDK only, with 518 hp from the 4.0 naturally aspirated flat-six, a 2-piece swan-neck wing with the drag reduction flap, front fender louvres, a radiator in place of the frunk, centre-lock wheels and 4 dials on the wheel. This one has the Weissach package, which adds the exposed carbon roof, the Weissach script on the wing end plates and the forged magnesium wheels, here in blue. The yellow calipers are the carbon ceramic brakes. Inside it's black with yellow seatbelts, blue stitching on the shifter boot and console, a yellow marker at the top of the wheel, carbon buckets and a fire extinguisher by the passenger footwell. 2 seats.
