A front-engined Ferrari built around a naturally aspirated V12 that pulls hard to an 8,900 rpm redline.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast is a front-engined, two-seat grand tourer whose naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12 spins from 800 rpm to an 8,900 rpm redline, a power band no turbocharged car in the range can match. It goes to a driver who wants the engine more than the audience, someone who knows Ferraris rather than someone chasing a first impression.
The pull builds as a rising wave rather than a sudden shove, growing more intense the closer you get to the 8,900 rpm redline, and rear-wheel steering pulls the nose in faster than you expect. Built for an open road and a confident driver, not a relaxed cruise.
This is the Ferrari 812 Superfast for a driver who wants the engine more than the audience. Reviewers have called it one of the great front-engined grand tourers built by any manufacturer, and the appeal is aimed at someone who already knows Ferraris rather than someone chasing a first impression. It is not built for a relaxed cruise, since the engine stays loud at freeway speed and the car is wide enough that tight parking takes concentration. A confident driver on an open road gets the most from it, and carbon ceramic brakes and adaptive dampers with a bumpy road setting keep it composed once the pace picks up.
The Ferrari 812 range covers two road body styles and 2 limited, track leaning versions built on the same naturally aspirated V12. Prometheus Exotics runs the 812 Superfast coupe, the standard car and the only 812 we run.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast is the fixed roof berlinetta and the car in our fleet. A 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 sends 789 hp to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, revving to 8,900 rpm with no turbocharger anywhere. There is no central touchscreen, only a large analog rev counter between 2 smaller displays.
The 812 GTS is the retractable hardtop version of the same car and the first series production open top Ferrari V12 in decades. It carries roughly 75 kg more for the roof mechanism and the structure under it, makes the same 789 hp, and drives almost identically with the roof closed. We do not run one.
The 812 Competizione is the track leaning coupe, raising the V12 to 819 hp and a 9,500 rpm limit, adding rear wheel steering, a carbon fiber hood, and a blanked off rear screen in place of glass. Ferrari built 999 of them and sold every one before delivery. It is not in our fleet.
The 812 Competizione A is the targa roofed version of the Competizione, with the same 819 hp V12 and a removable roof panel rather than a folding mechanism. Ferrari built 599, fewer than the coupe, and sold them all in advance. We do not run one, and neither Competizione was ever a volume car.
