The Longtail version of the 570S, with the exhausts exiting on the deck behind your head.
The McLaren 600LT is the Longtail version of the 570S, a 592 hp mid-engine supercar cut by about 100 kg, with its twin exhausts exiting on top of the engine cover behind the roof. Renters book it for the sharper, louder car once they already know a McLaren, over the 570S, the easier first McLaren and the one with the softer ride.
The sound arrives over your shoulder, not from behind, because the exhausts exit on the deck behind the roof, and the car turns in the moment you think about it on a quicker rack and a lower, stiffer chassis. This is the McLaren for the mountain road at dawn, not the valet line.
McLaren built the 600LT in 2 body styles, the coupe and the Spider that followed with a folding hardtop. Both carry the same engine, the same top-exit exhausts and the same fixed wing. We run the Spider.
The 600LT Spider is the car we run, gloss black with orange pinstripes along the splitter, sills and diffuser, with orange calipers inside black wheels. A 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 makes 592 hp through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the retractable hardtop folds in about 15 seconds at low speed. With the roof down the top-exit exhausts are right behind your ears.
The 600LT coupe is the fixed roof car and the lighter of the 2 by about 50 kg, with the same 592 hp V8, the same gearbox and the same carbon ceramic brakes borrowed from the 720S. Its carbon fiber racing seats come from the P1 and were standard on both bodies. It is the purer Longtail, built first. We do not run the coupe.
