The Longtail McLaren, 1 of 500 coupes built lighter and louder than the 650S it came from.
The McLaren 675LT is the Longtail version of the 650S, a 666 hp coupe limited to 500 cars and cut by 100 kg with a titanium exhaust and carbon fiber bucket seats. Renters book it for a shape few people will ever see on the road and the photo almost nobody else can take, over a 720S that is newer, softer and far easier to find.
Weight is the mechanism, 100 kg cut from the 650S with a titanium exhaust and carbon seats, so it starts with a harder bark and gathers itself below 3,500 rpm before it goes. It is for the run up Angeles Crest where the long tail and the airbrake keep it planted, not the valet line.
McLaren built the 675LT in 2 body styles, 500 coupes first and then 500 Spiders with a retractable hardtop. Both carry the same 666 hp V8, the same titanium exhaust and the same longer tail. We run the coupe.
The 675LT coupe is the car we run, Napier Green over a black Alcantara cabin, on silver wheels with green calipers. A 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 makes 666 hp through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the 2 exhausts exit high in the center of the tail, and the airbrake is 50% larger than the one on the 650S. It is 1 of 500 coupes built.
The 675LT Spider followed the coupe with a retractable hardtop and the same 666 hp V8, the same gearbox and the same carbon tub, about 40 kg heavier for the roof mechanism. It was also limited to 500 cars and sold out quickly. Roof up it looks nearly the same as the coupe from the side. We do not run the Spider.
