The Porsche 911 Carrera is the turbocharged, rear engine 911 built for daily use rather than a track day, and it is the only 911 in our fleet that keeps two small rear seats and a usable front trunk. It is booked for anniversary dinners, client pickups and weddings where the couple want elegance, by renters who do not want to be looked at.
How It Drives
The steering is light at parking speed then loads up smoothly, weighty and communicative, and the tail feels like it rotates around a point behind your hips while gripping far harder than that suggests. That makes the Carrera the 911 you drive daily, not park for a photo.
Who Rents It
The Porsche 911 Carrera is booked for anniversary dinners, a client pickup, a wedding where the couple want elegance rather than volume, and any renter who specifically does not want to be looked at. The Carrera 4S is the road trip and questionable weather booking, since its front axle grips through wet corners a rear-drive car has to treat with more respect. The Carrera GTS and 4 GTS go to a renter who already had a Carrera and wants the newer hybrid-assisted engine, which builds boost faster than the older turbo and never feels like it is waiting for revs. Every trim in the lineup is booked to be driven daily, not parked for a photo.
Trim Breakdown
The Porsche 911 Carrera line spans rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars from 379 hp to 532 hp, in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa bodies. Our fleet runs the Carrera, the Carrera 4S, the Carrera GTS and the Carrera 4 GTS.
911 Carrera
The 911 Carrera is the entry point to the line and one of the cars we run. A 3.0 liter twin-turbo flat-six makes 379 hp through the rear wheels, with an 8 speed PDK, staggered 19 and 20 inch wheels and adaptive dampers as standard. It is the lightest feeling 911 in the range and it wants a canyon road to wake up fully.
911 Carrera T
The 911 Carrera T is the base engine wrapped around a driver focused chassis. Porsche fits a manual gearbox, a shorter final drive, lowered sport suspension, lighter glass and less sound insulation, deletes the rear seats and makes rear-axle steering standard. We do not run the Carrera T, and every 911 in our fleet has PDK.
911 Carrera S
The 911 Carrera S uses a higher output version of the same twin-turbo flat-six, rated at 443 hp in rear-wheel-drive form, with larger brakes and wider rear tires. On the road the S mostly buys a longer second gear and a stronger midrange rather than a different character. We do not run a rear-wheel-drive Carrera S.
911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S
The Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S add a driven front axle to the base and S engines. We run the Carrera 4S, at 443 hp. Where a rear-drive Carrera asks for care on a wet road, the 4S simply hooks up, and the front axle engages progressively without numbing the steering. This is the all-weather, long-distance trim of the range.
911 Carrera GTS and Carrera 4 GTS
We run both GTS cars. A 3.6 liter twin-turbo flat-six with an electric turbocharger and a motor inside the gearbox makes 532 hp, and boost is effectively always there. Rear-axle steering, sport exhaust, lowered sport suspension and staggered 20 and 21 inch wheels are standard. The 4 GTS adds all-wheel drive and reaches 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.
