The GTS is the 911 that finally matches the chassis to the engine. A single electric turbocharger with a 54 horsepower motor built into the PDK erases lag entirely, so there is no waiting anywhere in the rev range, just instant response the moment you ask. Sixty comes in 2.9 seconds. What matters more is the mid-range, where the car simply goes without any of the hesitation turbocharged engines usually involve. On Mulholland Drive, rear-axle steering, standard on this trim, tightens the car's line through every hairpin more than its length suggests it should. The steering itself is the sharpest in our Carrera range, quick, accurate, and honest about what the front tyres are doing.
How It Photographs
Grey suits the GTS because the GTS is the discreet fast 911, and the darkened trim, wheels and badging read as detail rather than decoration against it. This is not a car that announces itself in a photograph, which is the point. Shoot it low and from the rear three-quarter to get the wide hips and the centre-exit exhaust, and get in close on the wheels and the darkened script for the detail shot.
