The Porsche Macan range runs from a turbocharged inline-four base car up to a V6 GTS, and Porsche now builds a separate all-electric Macan alongside it. Our fleet runs the base Macan, the entry point to the line.
Macan
The base Macan is the trim we run. A 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-four drives all 4 wheels through a 7 speed automatic with paddle shifters. The engine is competent rather than exciting. The steering is the reason to take this version, and reviewers rate it the best in any compact SUV, with a center analogue tachometer lifted straight from a 911.
Macan T
The Macan T uses the same 2.0 liter engine and puts the money into chassis hardware. Porsche fits adaptive dampers, a stiffer front anti-roll bar, Sport Chrono and 20 inch wheels as standard, and gives the car its own exterior trim finish. It is the base Macan sharpened rather than made quicker. We do not run it.
Macan S
The Macan S swaps in a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 making 375 hp. The change a renter feels is not only the extra power, it is the sound, because a V6 Macan has a real engine note where the base car has a flat industrial thrum. Larger brakes come with it. We do not run the S.
Macan GTS
The Macan GTS takes the same V6 to 434 hp, sits lower on standard air suspension and is the version reviewers call the driver's Macan. It adds the sport exhaust, darkened exterior trim and 21 inch wheels. We do not run the GTS, so ask us about availability first if a V6 Macan is what you want.
Macan Turbo
Porsche built a Macan Turbo on the same twin-turbo V6 at 434 hp before the Turbo name moved across to the electric car. The all-electric Macan is a separate model on a different platform and shares only the name and the shape. We run neither the V6 Turbo nor any electric Macan.
