The black Rolls Royce Dawn with the bright red and black interior is based in Los Angeles. It is the 4-seat convertible Rolls, the last open-top V12 the company made, and it puts everyone in the car on display at once. Book it for the wedding exit, the prom, the music video, the dinner in Malibu where the valet lot is part of the night. Delivery covers Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
Start with the roof. 6 layers of cloth fold under a rising wood deck in around 20 seconds, on the move at up to about 30 mph, and you hear almost nothing while it happens. Roof down, 4 people sit above the door line in red leather. The 6.6L twin-turbo V12 makes 563 hp and you will use a fraction of it. There is no rev counter, just a Power Reserve gauge that reads 93% in hand at a cruise. The steering has more weight than the bigger Rolls and the car rolls a little in corners on purpose, asking what the hurry is. The coach doors mean you step out standing, facing forward. Take Ocean Avenue along Palisades Park, drop onto PCH and run it to Malibu with the roof stowed. That is the point of this car.
Black over bright red, roof down. The red is the subject and the black is the frame. In direct sun the black turns to a mirror and the palms reflect in the doors, so shoot from low and let the red seats sit above the sheet metal. Open shade saturates the red and stops the chrome 21-inch wheels blowing out, the frame for the head-on shot with both coach doors open. After dark the red vanishes into the black unless you light the cabin, so keep night shots to the grille and the Spirit of Ecstasy. Close detail is the rear seats, armrest down. These are from a palm-lined Los Angeles street. Beverly Hills flats give the same frame.
We run 2 Dawns and this is the black one. Our other Dawn is white with an orange and black cabin, based in Orange County at $1,195 a day. This is the only Dawn based in Los Angeles and the only black convertible Rolls we have. Black over red with the roof down reads night out and music video, where the white car reads wedding. At $1,295 a day with a $2,000 deposit and 100 miles, it is the open-top Rolls for the Strip rather than the ceremony.
This is the standard Dawn, which brings the 6.6L twin-turbo V12 at 563 hp, rear-wheel drive, a 6-layer cloth roof that stows under a wood deck, 4 full seats and rear-hinged coach doors. The paint is black and the grille slats are finished black to match, with the chrome surround and polished Spirit of Ecstasy kept bright. Inside it is bright red leather on all 4 seats, the dash, the door panels and the roof-liner trim, with black on the dash top, console and carpets. It rides on chrome 21-inch wheels. The rear has 2 individual seats with a center armrest between them. 100 miles a day included.
