How It Drives
Push the button and the 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 barks once and settles, then at the first red light it shuts off and restarts without a shudder, because a 48 volt starter-generator sits between the engine and the 8-speed gearbox. That motor also fills in torque off the line, so 5,500 lb leaves like half its weight. 617 hp and 553 lb-ft from 1,800 rpm, all 4 wheels driven with a rear bias and an active rear differential. The ride is firm even in Comfort, the steering quick, the brakes enormous. Take Highway 78 out toward Palomar Mountain and run the long sweepers before the hairpins start. The adaptive dampers and active anti-roll keep it flat in a way a 5-seat SUV has no business being. Sport for the flutter on lift-off, Comfort for the drive back.

These were shot on the Shelter Island bayfront with the skyline and the Coronado Bridge behind, and that is the spot.
