The grey Ferrari 812 GTS with the full red interior is based in Los Angeles. It is the open V12, the one you book when you want the engine as the event and the roof folded so the whole of Sunset hears it too. 789 hp with no turbos, 2 seats, and a red cabin that photographs from across the street. It delivers across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
Fold the roof first. It takes about 14 seconds and works at up to 28 mph, and once it is down the 6.5L V12 in front of you has nothing between its exhaust and your ears. Press the red button on the wheel and it settles into a low murmur. The engine is naturally aspirated, so there is no turbo surge, just a pull that starts around 800 rpm and keeps building to the 8,900 rpm redline, 789 hp at the top. The gearing is short, so even 40 mph on Wilshire feels busy. The steering is quick, with rear-wheel steering behind it, and the nose turns in faster than you expect. Take it along PCH from Santa Monica to Malibu at a cruising pace, roof down, and run it up through third past the Nobu valet lot.
Grey over full red is a quiet outside and a loud inside, and only the roof-down shot shows both. In direct sun the grey goes almost silver and the red saturates, so shoot from above the windscreen down into the cabin. In open shade the grey turns deep and the red seats are the brightest thing in the frame. After dark the grey disappears and the red dash glows under street light. Take the rear three-quarter with the roof stowed and the 2 red headrests above the deck. Shoot close on the carbon centre bridge beside the red leather. These photos were shot in a plain industrial yard, so take it to the Encinal Canyon overlook above Malibu.
We run 4 cars from the 812 family. The other 3 are Superfast coupes, a white one in Orange County, a satin black one with a blue stripe here in Los Angeles, and a black and teal one in San Diego. This is the only 812 GTS we have, the only open 812, and the only one with a red interior. If you want the V12 with the roof down, nothing else in our lineup does it. For the coupe at a lower rate, see the satin black Superfast.
This is the 812 GTS, the retractable hardtop version of the 812. Standard on the GTS is the 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 at 789 hp, the 7-speed dual-clutch, rear-wheel drive with rear-wheel steering, carbon ceramic brakes, magnetic dampers with bumpy road mode, and a roof that folds in about 14 seconds. This one is grey on black wheels, with the Scuderia shields on the front wings. Inside it is full red leather on the seats, dash, doors and centre console, with a Cavallino stitched into each headrest, red door pulls, a carbon centre bridge for the gearbox buttons, carbon on the steering wheel, and 812 GTS lettering in red inside the cabin.
