How It Drives
The 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 sits inches behind your head, and with the roof panels stowed there is nothing left between it and you. The single clutch gearbox is the first thing you notice, a hard, deliberate shove on every upshift rather than a smooth slur, and it stops feeling like a compromise once you clear the last light onto Ortega Highway and the road opens up. Off idle the engine is a mechanical churn you feel through the seat. Wide open it becomes a wall of noise rather than a sound you can pick apart. There is no traffic to read out here, no windscreen wander, just the redline climbing and the next bend arriving fast.
How It Photographs
White is the exterior that lets the SVJ's aerodynamic detail read clearly in direct sun, and Orange County gives it that light most of the year. Shoot it at the top of Newport Coast Drive on the climb to Pelican Hill, where the paint holds every vent and duct against the ocean behind it. With the roof panels off, the red and orange cabin sits fully exposed, so the loudest interior we run and the whitest exterior we run are in the same frame at once. Shoot the doors up. The scissor action is the one angle that captures the stowed panels and the lit cabin together.
Why This One
This is the only one of our three Aventadors with the roof off, and it is also the only white one, which makes it the loudest arrival in the group before the engine even turns over. The SVJ Coupe next to it runs the identical 759 hp specification in grey with a closed roof and the aero intact, the more serious spec of the two SVJs. The SV runs less power in red for a lower rate. If the point of the day is the roof off spectacle with the red and orange cabin fully exposed, this is the Aventador to book. It is the only one of the three that does that.

This is the Aventador SVJ Roadster, the open top version of Lamborghini's naturally aspirated V12 halo car. Standard on the SVJ is ALA 2.0, the active aerodynamic system that opens and closes ducts in the front splitter and rear wing, along with rear wheel steering and the louvred engine cover that nods to the old Miura Jota. The roof is two carbon panels that lift out by hand and stow in the nose, not a folding or powered top. Underneath is the 6.5 liter V12 making 759 hp, sent through a single clutch gearbox to all four wheels. This car pairs that specification with white paint over a red and orange interior.
