The light blue Range Rover Sport with the caramel tan interior is based in Los Angeles. This is the Range Rover you drive yourself, lower and firmer than the full-size car, in a coastal blue that reads Malibu rather than Beverly Hills and a tan cabin that warms every photo. It does the couple's weekend, the client lunch and the Malibu house run. Chauffeur service is available on request. It goes out to clients across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
You sit lower than in the full-size Range Rover, 20 mm closer to the road, in a body that is 35% stiffer, and you feel both in the first corner. The Sport settles after a bump instead of swaying. The 3.0L turbo straight-6 starts quietly, and there is a beat of hesitation off the line in traffic before the turbo wakes and the 355 hp comes in as a soft whoosh. Air springs at each corner keep the ride supple over broken pavement. The cabin is the quiet kind, tyre noise mostly, and the tan leather and the high seat make it feel like a lounge with a view over the hoods ahead. Take it down Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica to Malibu and it does exactly what a Range Rover should. Composed, never hurried.
This light blue sits between teal and silver, and over the caramel tan interior it is the warmest pairing on any Range Rover we run. In direct sun the paint goes pale and metallic and the black roof, wheels and lower body outline the shape. In open shade it deepens to a true teal and the tan cabin glows through the glass, so shoot with a door open. After dark it reads grey-blue and the tan seats are the only colour. Take the rear three-quarter with the SPORT lettering and the quad exhausts. Close detail, the tan dash top meeting the black screen. Shoot it at the Malibu Country Mart lot, or on Abbot Kinney in Venice.
We run 4 Range Rover Sports and this is the only one based in Los Angeles, and the only one with a tan interior. The others are black on black in Orange County at $395 a day and navy over light grey in San Diego at $395. At $695 a day this one is priced above them. The other Range Rover we keep here is the champagne HSE at $795, the bigger car you are driven in. This is the one you drive.
