The black Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Maybach-style conversion with the orange diamond-quilted interior is based in Los Angeles. It's a van only on the outside. Inside it's 2 reclining captain chairs, a bench behind them, a star-lit floor, a wide screen and a champagne cooler, 6 seats in all. Book it for the group that wants to arrive together, the bachelor party, the shoot crew, the airport run for the whole family. It covers Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
The engine is a 2.0 turbo diesel with 211 hp and an automatic, tuned for smoothness rather than speed, which is correct for a car where the passengers are facing a screen. You sit high and upright with a short hood, so it threads West Hollywood traffic more easily than you'd guess, and the body is shorter than the name suggests, so it fits a standard space. Rear-wheel drive and a soft ride keep the cabin level over the bumps. The first 10 minutes for the driver are Sunset Boulevard at a crawl. The first 10 minutes for everyone else are the captain chairs reclined, the leg rests up, the screen on and the cooler open. Keep it on the boulevards and the freeways. This isn't a canyon car and nobody in the back wants it to be.
Black outside, orange inside, and the orange is the whole frame. In direct sun the black body goes to mirror and shows the sky, so open the side door and let the orange leather pull the eye. In open shade the chrome grille and the wheels read clean against the black. After dark the star-lit floor and the ambient strips glow, and that's the shot, from the open side door looking in. Take the front straight on, low, so the grille fills the width. Shoot the captain chair with the champagne bucket close. These photos were taken on a rooftop deck with the Los Angeles hills behind. Shoot it there at sunset, or on the Sunset Strip after dark.
This is the only Maybach-style conversion we run. Our Maybach S580 and S680 sedans in Los Angeles carry 2 people in the back in comfort. This carries 4 in the back, facing a screen, with a cooler between them and the whole group in the same conversation. It's the car for the night when splitting into 2 sedans would split the party. $995 a day is more than either sedan, and divided by 6 seats it's the easier number to say out loud to whoever is paying.
This is an aftermarket Maybach-style conversion of a Mercedes-Benz van, not a factory build. The conversion adds the vertical-bar grille, chrome dish wheels, Maybach lettering across the tailgate and badges on the headrests. The body is black and shorter than a full Sprinter, with a sliding side door and a rear hatch. Inside it's orange diamond-quilted leather on every seat, the dash and the doors, with turbine vents and an orange steering wheel. The rear has 2 captain chairs with power recline and leg rests, a 2-seat bench behind them, a star-lit floor, a large screen on the partition, a touchscreen control tablet, a champagne cooler and ambient lighting. 6 seats. 2.0 turbo diesel, 211 hp, rear-wheel drive.
