A Mercedes van rebuilt as a 6 seat lounge, with reclining chairs, a screen and a cooler.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the Mercedes van most luxury conversions start from, and ours carries a Maybach-style build with 2 reclining captain chairs, a star-lit floor, a wide screen and a cooler, 6 seats in all. Renters book it for the night a group wants to stay in 1 conversation, over splitting everyone into 2 sedans.
The turbo diesel is tuned for smoothness rather than speed, and a high upright seat with a short hood makes it easier to thread through traffic than the name suggests. It is the van for the boulevard and the freeway, and nobody reclined in the back with the screen on wants a canyon.
Mercedes sells the Sprinter in 2 weight classes, 2500 and 3500, each as a passenger van with factory seats or a crew van with 1 bench and cargo behind it. Ours is an aftermarket Maybach-style conversion, not a Mercedes-Maybach product.
The Sprinter 2500 Passenger Van is the base our conversion starts from, in black with an orange diamond-quilted cabin, a chrome vertical-bar grille and chrome dish wheels. The factory van seats up to 12, and the build cuts that to 6, with 2 power reclining captain chairs, a 2 seat bench, a star-lit floor, a wide screen and a champagne cooler. 211 hp turbo diesel, rear-wheel drive.
The Sprinter 2500 Crew Van keeps 1 bench behind the front seats, 5 seats in all, and leaves the rest of the body open for cargo, a work van for a team and its gear. It shares the 2.0 liter turbo diesel, the body width and the sliding side door with the passenger van. We do not run the crew van.
The Sprinter 3500 Passenger Van is the heavier duty version with dual rear wheels, a higher payload and seats for up to 15 in the longest body. It is the one tour companies and hotels buy, wider at the back and harder to park on a city street. We do not run the 3500 passenger van.
The Sprinter 3500 Crew Van pairs the dual rear wheel chassis with the 1 bench crew layout, for a heavy load and 5 people at once. It drives like a truck and is sold for work, not for a night out. We do not run the 3500 crew van.
