White 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost with black wheels, front three-quarter view, for a guide to how much it costs to rent a Ghost

The cheapest way into a Rolls Royce Ghost is the white 2021 car with the orange cabin. It costs $995 a day and carries a $1,000 hold. So how much to rent a Ghost depends on the car you pick. At the time of writing, Ghost listing pages show $995 or $1,195 a day, with 100 miles a day included on every one.

Picture that 2021 car waiting at the arrivals curb at John Wayne Airport. The grille is black, the wheels are gloss black, and the coach doors open from a switch on the console. You drop one bag in the trunk and slide in behind a steering wheel with an orange band. Nobody in the pickup lane can guess the rate. They only see who gets in.

Rolls Royce Ghost rental price per day by model year

Each Ghost listing sets its own rate, its own hold and its own mile rate. The model year matters more than the price, because the Ghost changed generations between 2018 and 2021. Here is what each listing showed when this post went up.

  • 2021 Ghost, white over orange, based in Orange County. $995 a day, $1,000 hold, $5 a mile past the allowance.
  • 2018 Ghost, white over white, based in Palm Springs. $995 a day, $2,000 hold, $4 a mile past the allowance.
  • 2023 Ghost, white over black and red, based in Los Angeles. $1,195 a day, $2,000 hold, $5 a mile past the allowance.

The 2018 car is the first-generation Ghost. It runs a 6.6 liter twin-turbo V12 with 563 hp and 575 lb-ft. It sends that power to the rear wheels only, and it reaches 60 in 4.8 seconds. On Palm Canyon Drive in slow traffic, that keeps the car simple under your foot.

The 2021 and 2023 cars are the second generation. Their V12 grows to 6.75 liters. Horsepower stays at 563, but torque climbs to 627 lb-ft. All four wheels drive and all four steer, so they reach 60 in 4.6 seconds.

You feel that torque the moment you leave a light. Take the 2021 car down Pacific Coast Highway through Corona del Mar at 35 mph. The car gathers speed with no rising engine note at all. Two fingers on the wheel are enough to steer it. People at the outdoor tables look up only after it has already passed.

What the extra $200 buys on the 2023 Ghost

The 2021 car and the 2023 car share the same engine, the same torque and the same all-wheel drive. That means the extra $200 a day buys a different cabin and a different home base rather than more speed.

The 2023 listing calls out the Illuminated Fascia as standard on this generation of Ghost. That is a dashboard panel that lights the passenger side with hundreds of tiny points when the car starts. The 2023 cabin is black with red accents, and the red stays hidden until a coach door opens.

That cabin is built for a night out. Roll up to a valet stand in West Hollywood after dark and let the attendant open the rear door. The red shows first, and then the lit dashboard throws its points of light across the passenger seat. The white body outside looks calm and current, not bridal.

The Ghost rental deposit is a hold, and it changes by car

The deposit is a hold on your card, not a charge. It's released after the car comes back in the condition it left. On the 2021 Ghost the hold is $1,000, while the 2018 and 2023 cars carry $2,000. So check the listing for the exact car, because the hold is not the same on every one.

The hold covers small things like a wheel curbed on a tight valet ramp. Damage goes to your own insurance, subject to your deductible. Insurance isn't in the daily rate, and we don't sell it. Your policy has to carry non-owner vehicle coverage, which means it extends comprehensive and collision to a car that isn't on your policy.

Here is the part people miss. Most credit card rental benefits exclude cars worth more than $50k to $75k. The 2021 Ghost's listing puts its MSRP at $351,750. Your card's coverage almost never applies at that number. Before every rental, we call your carrier with an agent on a recorded line and confirm the coverage.

You also need to be 18 or older, with a valid license and full coverage insurance in your own name. A larger deposit may apply if you're under 25. Once that call is done, the keys are yours and the orange cabin is the first thing you see.

How much to rent a Ghost for a weekend, a week or a month

The daily rate holds for the first two days. From day three it drops on its own, by length, with no need to ask. Here is the Ghost rental cost on a $995 car.

  • 2 days at the full rate is $1,990, with 200 miles included.
  • 3 days at 10% off is $895.50 a day, or $2,686.50.
  • 7 days at 20% off is $796 a day, or $5,572.
  • 14 days at 30% off is $696.50 a day, or $9,751.
  • 28 days at 50% off is $497.50 a day, or $13,930.

On the $1,195 car, a week comes to $6,692 and 28 days come to $16,730. Delivery is charged on every rental, whatever the length. It is quoted by address, so it sits on top of these totals.

A week changes how the car fits into your days. The Ghost spends each night with a valet or in a hotel garage, and the keys stay with you. By the fourth morning in Newport Beach, you stop thinking about the car as a rental. You walk out, the doors open, and the day starts.

Miles are where a Las Vegas run gets expensive

Every Ghost includes 100 miles a day, and a longer rental pools them. Las Vegas is about 270 miles each way from Orange County. That makes the round trip about 540 miles, and a 2 day rental covers 200 of them.

On the 2021 car, the other 340 or so miles cost $5 each, which adds about $1,700. On the 2018 car at $4 a mile, the same miles cost about $1,360. Out of state trips need advance notice, so ask first. Tell us the route at booking and the miles get priced in ahead instead of billed after.

The Ghost is the right car for that run. At highway speed in the open desert, the cabin stays quiet enough to talk without raising your voice. Rolls Royce even tuned the seat frames to hum one soft note, because total silence made people uneasy. Four hours in, you still feel fresh when you step out.

If your trip starts in the desert, look at the 2018 car. It's based in Palm Springs, so it can be at Palm Springs Airport when your flight lands. The San Jacinto Mountains sit behind it while you load the trunk.

When a Flying Spur, an S580 or an M5 makes more sense

Some renters want this kind of four-door presence for less per day. These three cars cost less than a Ghost and send a different signal.

The Bentley Flying Spur costs $795 a day, with a $1,000 hold and $4 a mile past the allowance. This one is white over red leather and based in Los Angeles. Its 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 makes 542 hp and reaches 60 in 4.0 seconds. It is louder than a Ghost and it wants to be driven harder.

The Maybach S580 is the car for the person in the back seat. The two-tone emerald green over silver S580 costs $695 a day, with a $1,000 hold and $3 a mile. Picture it rolling through Beverly Hills with the rear blinds half down. The rear seat reclines and a leg rest rises, and whoever drives does very little.

The BMW M5 Competition is the quiet option. The black car with the brown cabin costs $595 a day, with a $1,000 hold and $4 a mile. It makes 617 hp and reaches 60 in 3.1 seconds. Five people and their bags fit, and nobody outside the car guesses what it can do.

Chauffeur service is available on request on the Ghost. Most people still drive it themselves, because the light steering makes the driver's seat the best seat in the car.

The model year is the real price tag

On a Ghost, the year tells you more than the rate does. The 2021 car gives you the newer generation at the lower rate and the smaller hold. The 2023 car costs $200 more for a black and red cabin and a Los Angeles base. The 2018 car makes the most sense when the trip starts in Palm Springs.
