The Emerald Green Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 with the mahogany and cream two-tone interior is based in Los Angeles. This is the car for the people in the back, the airport pickup with real luggage, the multi-stop Beverly Hills day, the wedding party that needs 4 people to arrive together and step out of something. Delivery covers Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
Start with the quiet. The air suspension lowers when the doors open, the doors close softly on their own, and the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with its mild hybrid starts with a whirr you have to listen for. Put it in Maybach mode and everything softens for the passengers, the throttle, the shifts, the ride. The 9-speed slurs so gently you stop noticing it. Then Sunset Boulevard past the Beverly Hills Hotel at a cruise, where the air springs and the active body control read the road ahead and flatten it, and the cabin stays at conversation volume. There is 550 hp if the on-ramp needs it, a steady whoosh rather than a shove. The steering is light, the brakes are progressive, and 4 people in a 6,000 lb car arrive without a hair out of place.
Emerald Green reads black until the sun finds it. Late in the day it goes bottle green along the shoulders and the chrome wheels and grille bars light up against it. In open shade it falls back to near black with green in the highlights. After dark it is black, so shoot it between 4 and 6. Take the front three-quarter with the grille and the hood star, the angle where the Maybach badges do their work. Open a rear door and shoot the mahogany captain chairs against the cream headliner close. These were taken on a Beverly Hills rooftop with the City Hall tower behind the car, and that is the location, green paint, palms and the tower.
We run 6 Maybach GLS 600s and this is the only one based in Los Angeles. It is also the only green one and the only one with the mahogany and cream cabin, the rest are black, grey or red inside. The Orange County cars are $795 a day in black or grey, the San Diego car is $1,195. This one is $895 with a $1,000 refundable deposit, and it is the one to book when the car is being photographed as well as ridden in.
This is the Maybach GLS 600, the 4-seat version of the GLS with the second and third rows replaced by 2 individual reclining seats. 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with 48-volt mild hybrid, 550 hp, 9-speed, 4Matic all-wheel drive, Airmatic air suspension with active body control, and Maybach drive mode. On this car the paint is Emerald Green over chrome multi-spoke Maybach wheels, with chrome roof rails, chrome window surrounds and the vertical-bar Maybach grille. Inside it is mahogany brown and cream two-tone leather, a cream headliner and dash top, a cream-rimmed steering wheel, wood on the rear console with the Maybach tablet docked in it, and the twin-screen dash. 4 seats, 4 doors.
