People often guess a Range Rover costs as much to rent as a supercar, but it usually costs far less. How much to rent a Range Rover depends on the body and the trim. The cars on our site list from $395 to $795 a day. Every one includes 100 miles a day and carries a $1,000 deposit hold. The longer you keep the car, the lower the daily rate gets.

That rate buys a specific moment. You walk up to the full size car and the door handles slide out of the bodywork to meet you. The body lowers on its air springs, so you step in instead of climbing up. A valet in Beverly Hills watches that happen and hands you the ticket without a word.

Range Rover rental price per day, car by car

Here is what each Range Rover on the site cost when this was written, cheapest first.

  • Range Rover Sport, 2023, black over black, Orange County, $395 a day, $1,000 deposit, $3 a mile
  • Range Rover Sport, 2025, white over black, Palm Springs, $445 a day, $1,000 deposit, $4 a mile
  • Range Rover SE, 2025, black over black, Orange County, $595 a day, $1,000 deposit, $3 a mile
  • Range Rover Sport, 2023, light blue over caramel tan, Los Angeles, $695 a day, $1,000 deposit, $3 a mile
  • Range Rover HSE, 2023, champagne over ivory, Los Angeles, $795 a day, $1,000 deposit, $3 a mile

The black Sport is the lowest Range Rover rental cost on that list. It has a 355 hp straight six and gets to 60 in 5.7 seconds. Black over black hides every sign of a rental. Pull it into a hotel lot in Newport Beach and the valet treats it like an owner's car.

The light blue Sport costs more because of what's inside it. Caramel tan leather runs across the seats, the door panels and the top of the dash. The rear seats recline electrically, and the back holds about 9 carry-on cases. Open the driver's door at a beach lunch in Malibu and the tan glows through the gap.

Why the full size Range Rover costs more

The full size Range Rover is a different car from the Sport, not a bigger trim of it. It's nearly 17 feet long, and its 3.0 liter mild hybrid straight six makes 395 hp. It reaches 60 in 5.3 seconds, which is quicker than the Sport. At parking speed the rear wheels steer opposite the fronts, so the long body turns around on a residential street.

The Sport sits 20 mm lower in a body that's 35% stiffer. It settles after a bump instead of floating on. So the Sport is the one to drive yourself, and the full size car is the one to ride in.

The SE is the entry trim on the full size body. It comes with black Windsor leather, 20 way heated and cooled front seats, and a panoramic roof. I'll be straight with you, though, because massage seats belong to the higher trims and the SE doesn't have them.

The HSE adds 22-inch wheels, soft-close doors and an ivory steering wheel. Its paint is Lantau Bronze, a light champagne metallic under a black roof. Stop it at a hotel entrance in Pasadena and open the rear door. The ivory seats are the first thing anyone on the steps sees.

The Range Rover rental deposit and the miles

The deposit is $1,000 on every car in the list above. It's a hold on your card, not a charge. We release it once the car comes back in the condition it left. A larger deposit may apply if you're under 25.

The hold covers small things, like a curbed 22-inch wheel. Your own insurance covers real damage, subject to your deductible. That policy has to extend comprehensive and collision coverage to a rental car that isn't on it. That's called non-owner vehicle coverage. Credit card coverage almost never applies, because most card benefits exclude cars worth more than $50k to $75k. Even the black Sport carried an MSRP of $83,600.

Every day includes 100 miles, and a longer booking pools them. A 3 day rental gives you 300 miles to spend however you like. Past that, each car bills its own rate. The white Sport bills $4 a mile, and the other four bill $3. So 50 extra miles cost $150 in the black Sport and $200 in the white one.

Most Range Rover days are freeway days, and this car makes the freeway feel short. Laminated glass and active noise cancellation bring road noise down until you hear the tires and little else. If the trip runs long, say so at booking and we'll price the miles in ahead of time.

How much to rent a Range Rover for a weekend, a week, or a month

The daily rate drops on its own as the booking gets longer. One and 2 days are at the full rate. Three to 4 days take 10% off, 5 to 6 days take 15%, and 7 to 13 days take 20%. From 14 days it's 30% off, from 21 days it's 40%, and from 28 days it's 50%. You don't have to ask for any of it.

Here is what that does at both ends of the price list.

  • Black Sport, 3 days, $1,066.50
  • Black Sport, 7 days, $2,212, or $316 a day
  • Black Sport, 28 days, $5,530, or $197.50 a day
  • HSE, 3 days, $2,146.50
  • HSE, 7 days, $4,452, or $636 a day
  • HSE, 28 days, $11,130, or $397.50 a day

Look at the last line. A month in the HSE costs about the same per day as one day in the black Sport at the full rate. The miles pool too, so 28 days give you 2,800 miles of that quiet cabin.

By the second week the car stops being an entrance. It's just how you get to a Tuesday meeting in Irvine. The ivory wheel sits under your hands, and the soft-close door pulls itself shut behind you. Delivery is quoted by address, so it isn't part of any of these numbers.

Three SUVs people weigh against a Range Rover

The Tesla Cybertruck AWD rents for $395 a day with a $1,000 deposit and $4 a mile. It makes 600 hp and gets to 60 in 4.1 seconds. Ours is black and based in Palm Springs. It can meet you at the curb at Palm Springs Airport when you land. Strangers walk over to ask about it, and a Range Rover lets you skip that conversation.

The Cadillac Escalade Sport is the step down at $295 a day with a $1,000 deposit. It bills $3 a mile and seats 7 on a 6.2 liter V8 with 420 hp. Book it when you're moving a group and the vehicle isn't the point of the day.

The Bentley Bentayga S costs $795 a day, the same as the HSE. It makes 542 hp from a twin-turbo V8, reaches 60 in 4.4 seconds and bills $4 a mile. Its sports exhaust pops when you lift off, and red leather waits behind the black paint. The HSE stays quiet at the hotel entrance. The Bentayga S makes noise on the way out.

Pick the seat, then the price

Every Range Rover in this post wears the same name, so the seat you'll sit in should decide the price. If you're driving yourself, the Sport does the job from $395 a day. If you'll ride in back, the full size car earns the extra money, and chauffeur service is available on request.
