About Prometheus

One Agency for Wedding Car Rental Across Southern California

Prometheus Exotics is an Orange County exotic and luxury car rental agency with cars across Southern California, a network of 300+ vehicles chosen for variety. For a wedding that matters because the car has to match the dress, the venue and the moment. A Ghost for the arrival, a Dawn for the exit and a convertible for the baraat are on the same list, so an exotic car rental for wedding photographs is a choice, not a substitute.

How to Rent an Exotic Car for a Wedding

Wedding car rental starts with the moment, a Ghost for the arrival, a Dawn for the exit, a G63 for the party, booked 4 weeks out and delivered to the venue or picked up in Orange County.

Wedding car rental in Southern California is a short list of cars doing a long day of standing still. Prometheus has wedding car rental in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego, plus the desert and the Inland Empire, and the car gets driven for about 15 minutes and photographed for 6 hours. That is the whole reason it is there.

What the Car Does at a Wedding

The car's job at a wedding is the 60 to 90 seconds that end up in the album, the arrival, the door opening and the exit. A Rolls Royce Ghost has rear-hinged coach doors, so the bride steps out at the porte cochere standing and facing the camera, with the dress intact and no shuffle across a sill. The Rolls Royce Dawn is the wedding getaway car, because the roof folds in about 20 seconds and a roof-down exit keeps both faces in the frame. The G-Wagon G63 is the wedding party car, since it seats 5 and takes the garment bags.

The parked hours are where the value is. The photographer uses the door frame and the mirror for the portraits before sunset, and guests photograph it through cocktail hour. The 5 to 10 mile drive to the hotel is the smallest part of the booking.

Which Cars Work for a Wedding

The cars people ask for most for a wedding are the white Rolls Royces, the Bentley Continental GTC, the G63, the Cullinan and the Escalade, then whatever the groom has as his phone wallpaper. The Rolls Royce wedding car in white is the bride's arrival car, the Ghost for most budgets, the Phantom above it, the Dawn beside it for the exit. The Cullinan takes a big dress, 2 parents and the bags in one trip. Chauffeur service is available on request on Rolls Royce.

Color matters more than people expect. White can lose its edges against a white dress in daylight, so photographers put the car a step away from the bride. Black vanishes in a night shot unless the lighting is deliberate. A grey Spectre holds its shape in both. The Bentley Continental GTC in white is the engagement shoot car and the morning-after brunch car, 4 seats, a real trunk and a roof that comes down. For the groom's own moment, a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, a Ferrari 488 Spider or a McLaren 720S Spider does the arrival, but these are 2-seat cars with low sills and no room for a gown. A ball gown wants a sedan or an SUV.

We have no vintage or classic cars, and no stretch limos or party buses. A modern white Ghost gives the same silhouette in the photograph that a 60-year-old Rolls Royce does, and it starts every time, which vintage wedding cars cannot promise. For the wedding party, an Escalade ESV seats 7 with luggage, and a Sprinter or Metris Maybach-style conversion takes 6 or 7 with the garment bags hung.

Where It Happens in Southern California

Each venue type gives the car a different moment. In Los Angeles, the Ebell on Wilshire is a 1920s clubhouse where the car sits at the curb for the arrival shot, and Calamigos Ranch in Malibu has the long private drive where a baraat actually works. In Orange County, the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point and the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach are valet controlled, so the car's moment is the porte cochere. In San Diego, La Valencia in La Jolla is village streets and a pink facade on Prospect, and Cape Rey in Carlsbad lists a baraat on the front drive. Palm Springs is the Cree Estate's motor court, where the car sits in the frame all day against a flat roof and a mountain. The Inland Empire is the Temecula vineyards, the car between the rows, and Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga. Golf clubs host so many weddings because the grounds are kept, the driveway is private and the fairway gives the photographer open sky.

When to Book a Wedding Car Rental and How the Day Runs

Book the wedding car at least 4 weeks ahead for a normal date. October and June are the peak months in Southern California, May and September sit behind them, and the white Rolls Royces go first on those Saturdays, so give a peak Saturday 2 to 3 months. The desert runs November to April. The car reaches you by delivery to the venue, the hotel, your home or the airport, quoted by address, or by pickup in Orange County, usually the morning of or the afternoon before. A luxury car rental for wedding weekends that run 3 days earns the multi-day discount, 10% at 3 to 4 days, 15% at 5 to 6, 20% at 7 to 13, 30% at 14 to 20, 40% at 21 to 27 and 50% at 28 days or more. Most real exits happen at 10 pm or later, in the dark, so couples who care about the photographs shoot the car in daylight and stage the exit before the light goes.

The Baraat and the South Asian Wedding

Baraat car rental is the groom's arrival, and in a South Asian wedding it is the moment the whole day is built around. The groom comes in a procession, the dhol in front, 100 or 150 people dancing around him, and the car crawls at walking pace behind them for 30 to 60 minutes before it stops at the door. A convertible is the baraat car because the groom can sit up on the rear deck and be seen, so the white Dawn, the Bentley GTC or a white Huracan Spyder does the job, and a white Ghost or Cullinan with the garland on the grille is the formal answer to the ghodi. Red and burgundy interiors photograph against a lehenga. The corridor is Artesia for the ceremony spaces, Buena Park for the banquet halls and Los Coyotes Country Club, which allows a car baraat on its drive, the Irvine and Anaheim hotels for receptions, and Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga around the BAPS mandir. The vidaai, or the rukhsati in a Pakistani wedding, is the bride leaving her family, and a convertible with the top down keeps her face in the frame while the flowers come down. A different car on each day of the weekend is normal.

Tell us the date, the venue and the moment you are building the car around, and we come back with the cars that fit the dress, the drive and the light. If the car is a surprise for the groom, say so, and it stays one until he walks outside.

Where It Happens

Weddings Across Southern California

Los Angeles skyline, exotic car rental in Los Angeles

Los Angeles

Where to Go
The Beverly Hills Hotel
Vibiana
Terranea Resort

A Los Angeles wedding car spends most of the day at a hotel door. At The Beverly Hills Hotel the striped porte cochere under the palms is the frame, valet only, and a white Phantom there is the arrival shot everyone recognizes. Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles is a former cathedral, black tie and night, so a black Wraith on Main Street gets photographed before the ceremony. Terranea gives a long resort drive and a sunset exit in a Dawn.

Orange County coastline, exotic car rental in Orange County

Orange County

Where to Go
Resort at Pelican Hill
Montage Laguna Beach
Los Coyotes Country Club

Orange County weddings run through valet stands. The Resort at Pelican Hill takes every car at the main porte cochere below the rotunda, and the car photo happens there, not on the bluff. Montage Laguna Beach is a PCH arrival into a craftsman drive, where a white Dawn earns its day. Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park allows a car baraat on the clubhouse drive, so a convertible with a garland on the grille fits there.

San Diego waterfront, exotic car rental in San Diego

San Diego

Where to Go
Hotel del Coronado
Lodge at Torrey Pines
Rancho Valencia

San Diego puts the wedding car on a public street more than anywhere else. At the Hotel del Coronado the red turrets sit behind a white Ghost on Orange Avenue. The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla has a timber porte cochere photographers use as a frame. Rancho Valencia is a long approach through olive groves, a Bentley rather than a Lamborghini. The city issues baraat permits for the Embarcadero, so a convertible at walking pace is normal.

Palm Springs desert, exotic car rental in Palm Springs

Palm Springs

Where to Go
The Parker
La Quinta Resort
Frederick Loewe Estate

A desert wedding keeps the car in the frame all day. The Parker is a drive through a hedge to a small entry court, and a white Dawn or the grey Spectre fits the mid-century set. La Quinta Resort puts the Santa Rosa Mountains behind every shot. The Frederick Loewe Estate has a motor court against a flat roof. The season runs November to April, since a June afternoon in Palm Springs is too hot for an open roof.

Inland Empire landscape, exotic car rental in the Inland Empire

Inland Empire

Where to Go
Mission Inn Hotel
Kimberly Crest
South Coast Winery

Inland Empire weddings split between wine country and old Riverside. Temecula hosts 4,000 weddings a year, and the car on a service road between the vines at Ponte or South Coast Winery is the hero shot. The Mission Inn is the arrival under the arches on Mission Inn Avenue, and a December wedding there sits inside the Festival of Lights. Kimberly Crest in Redlands is a chateau with terraced gardens where a white Ghost at the gate matches the house.
